An integrated washing machine fits right into your kitchen. Hidden behind a cupboard door, it sits out of sight and does not mar the appearance of your carefully selected kitchen units. However, despite the sleek appearance of a kitchen with integrated appliances, they are still considerably less popular than basic freestanding models. If you want an integrated washing machine you will find your choices are more limited.
Still, you only need one, and there are enough great integrated washing machines on the market to allow you some options. Here we take a close look at some of the best.

Our number one integrated washing machine is made by Hoover: a brand which is renowned for its production of high quality household goods. This machine has a spacious 8kg capacity drum – ideal for family laundry – and an impressive A+++ energy rating. A 14 minute 1.5kg quick washsetting is especially useful for small loads or single outfits which need cleaning in a hurry. AnEasy Iron wash reduces creases by modifying the final spin.
So far, so good. But it was Hoover’s innovative extra features which really made this machine our winner. TheirActive Eco wash programallows you to run a wash at a mere 20°C, saving energy while delivering the same results as a standard 40°C wash. Further savings are made by the machine’s KG mode, which weighs the laundry load before starting the wash and adjusts the time setting and water quantity accordingly.
Of course, there are some washes where skimping on the heat and water is not appropriate. When you have heavily soiled items which need an extra deep clean you can select60°C and make use of theHygiene + program. It will monitor and regulate the temperature through the wash cycle to ensure it stays consistently high. Extra detergent can be dealt with by activating an extra soak (with theAquaplussetting) which completely dissolves any leftoverdetergent before ending the wash.
The extra settings on many washing machines are overwhelming and remain largely unused but the clever functions that come with this machine are genuinely useful.
#2 HOTPOINT BHWM1292
The second pick on our Top 5 list is this budget friendly Hotpoint washing machine.
The 7 kg drum capacity is smaller than the Hoover model above. However, this is more than adequate for a basic household machine and preferable if you are a small household or prefer to separate your washes.
16 wash programs, including, Delicates, Daily Wash, Eco options, and a special Woolmark Platinum Caresetting, offer everything you need for a variety of household washing. Up to 3kg of washing can be cleaned on the quick wash cycle, which takes an hour. The 1200 rpm spin speed is also a little lower than the 1400 rpm offered by some of the other models on this list but it more than does the job.
This machine might have fewer features than our other top picks but it is a very practical and useful piece of kit from a well-known and reliable brand. It also comes with a very attractive price tag; at under £300, this machine might not be the flashiest on the market but it is great value for money. It’s definitely worth a look if your budget is limited.
#3 CANDY CBWM914S-80
Next on our list is this extra-large capacity washing machine from Candy, with an energy rating of A+++. The drum capacity is a whopping 9kg, making this a great option for large families who get through a large amount of laundry every day. It makes it easy to wash everything at once, in the few hours you have spare during a busy weekend. An optional Stain Level feature and Extra Rinsemakes it even easier to tackle really dirty items and get them clean first time.
Smaller washes (up to 1.5kg) and lightly soiled clothing can be popped on the 14 minute fast wash. Additional features include the timesaving Easy Iron which reduces creases, and the handy Hygiene + and KG Detectorsettings which can be used to adjust the amount of water and heat required for individual loads.
The spin speed is a very satisfactory 1400 rpm. Higher spin speeds mean that drying time is reduced so it’s a really useful feature on a high capacity machine where washing loads are bigger than average.
Overall, this is a great choice of machine for a large household and the large drum is worth paying a little extra for if you prefer to wash in batches.
#4 BEKO WIY72545
This machine from BEKO is the cheapest on our list. It boasts the highest energy rating of A+++and has two quick wash options (2kg in 14 minutes, or a full 7kg load in 28 minutes) for maximum energy efficiency.
A total of 14 wash programs give plenty of options for everyday washing and the handy digital display makes it easy to check how long a cycle will take. Additional features include a Drum Clean function which helps to keep the machine in tip-top condition, and a child safety lock to prevent your little ones from getting too involved (or adding their own small surprises to a clean white wash).
Integrated machines are usually more expensive than their freestanding equivalents so suddenly needing to replace on can stretch even the most budget conscious among us. This machine is a solid option for the price and highly recommended if you really need to save the pennies.
#5 ZANUSSI ZWI71401WA
Last on our list of integrated washing machines is this beast from Zanussi. 20 wash programs and 9 additional options give you everything you could possibly need from a washing machine. Of course, this all comes with a cost; this Zanussi machine is the most expensive on our list.
A respectable 7kg capacity will be plenty for most households and the spin speed, at 1400 rpm, is more than adequate. An LCD display lets you keep an eye on the remaining wash time. However, the real strength of this machine is the number of options available and the ability to adjust the wash time by using the Quick Wash button. This automatically reduces the washing time by half on many different wash settings, making easier to get large amounts of lightly soiled washing cleaned in a limited window of time. This, combined with an optional Easy Ironfeature, really does reduce the hassle of washing for a family.
Quite honestly, we would have ranked this machine higher but for one thing: the price. However, if you are looking for all the bells and whistles and don’t mind spending a little extra to get them then this machine is worth serious consideration.
